The workshop addressed both the female and the male (post-)doctoral researchers and was part of a package of several training activities under different formats: The one-day presence workshop on October 27, 2022 is followed by individual coaching sessions for each participant of 90 minutes length (in presence or online) offered in November/December 2022. A follow-up and transfer event is planned in approx. one year’s time. The workshop topic and contents had been preliminarily discussed between the two trainers, Ms. Brigitte Ott-Goebel and Ms. Elke-Maria Rosenbusch and the German coordinator of the IRTG AMAIZE-P. For the (post-)doctoral candidates on the German side, the presence workshop on October 27 also formed part of the educational programme of the 3rd block seminar held at the University of Hohenheim and China Agricultural University (in hybrid format) from 07 to 11 November, 2022.

A total of 16 (post-)doctoral researchers participated in the whole-day presence event. The agenda consisted of Welcome and Opening including self-presentations, followed by the morning session covering Equal Opportunities, Diversity and Unconscious Bias. This was interrupted for a group photo and coffee break. After lunch at the university “Mensa”, the fields of Strength Orientation, Personal Strengths and Competences were dealt with in depth. After coffee break, the topic of Intelligences and a Future Skill Set followed. After related transfer exercise and an introduction to relevant literature, the Transfer of the newly-acquired knowledge and competences into Daily Life was discussed. The final part of the one-day presence workshop consisted of Feedback, Closing and Outlook.

Both Ms. Rosenbusch and Ms. Ott-Goebel are very experienced trainers and coaches with a wide portfolio, including many years of previous positions in industry. Additionally, the trainer Ms. Ott-Goebel, with working and teaching experience in China, added practical examples from China into her training components. The one-day presence workshop was very well received by the participants.
